1. Take the time to discover the country
Don’t book your return ticket too soon. Many future buyers make the mistake of coming for just one week, falling for a place at first sight, and signing in a rush.
Plan for at least 3 weeks on the ground to really feel Paraguay: its pace of life, its culture, its climate — and most importantly, to give yourself time to picture your new life calmly, rather than just passing through
2. Explore several regions
Paraguay is far more diverse than most people imagine. Don’t stay in just one city or region: each area has its own atmosphere, climate, and way of life.
Between Asunción, the lively capital, and more rural regions like La Colmena, in the Paraguarí department, the differences are significant.
Take the time to visit several places before settling on a preference.
3. Come back during a different season
Paraguay’s climate changes noticeably between seasons. A place that charms you in summer can feel completely different in winter, and vice versa.
A second trip, at a different time of year, will give you a much fuller picture of the region before you commit. It’s often this second look that confirms — or changes — a first impression.
4. Start visiting properties
Once you know where you feel most at home, it’s the right time to start visiting actual land and houses in that specific area.
